ABOUT

Jabiz Hafizi is a pianist and a piano teacher based in the Netherlands.

She was born in Tehran. After studying Industrial Engineering, she decided to pursue her lifelong passion and dream of becoming a professional pianist.

In 2016, She graduated her Bachelor`s degree in Classic Piano Performance from Utrecht Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Martyn Van den Hoek.

She followed several Masterclasses and Workshops to be named among by Enrico Pace, Alan Weis, Henry Kelder, Deborah Nemko, José María Curbelo González and Marco & Rafaelle Terlizzi.

Furthermore, she has received lessons in Jazz Improvisation with Rembrandt Frerichs.

During her years of studying she played with ‘Donau Philharmonie Wien’ with Conductor Alexei Kornienko for Musik Zentral Festival in Bad Ausse/Austria. She has also participated in Festivals such as playing at GasthuisKapel in Zaltbommel for ‘Schubert aan de Waal’, ‘Vikingen aan de Waal’ and ‘Brahms Festival’. Her performances include, Tivoli Vredenburg as Lied accompanist for ‘Mendelssohn Dag’. She also performed as a guest Pianist at Pavillon/ Kurhaus for ‘Klassisch exotischer Frühling’ in Bad Ausse/Austria.

In 2019, Jabiz received her Master’s degree at the Maastricht Conservatory under the supervision of Prof. Joop Celis. Her Master research project was a production based on mixing genres; as she believes that in the current global situation, where east and west are being forced to mix and are struggling to accept each other’s cultural differences, it is more important than ever to introduce distant cultures to different folks through arts, She considers it her mission as a musician to contribute to this with her performances.

In October 2019, Jabiz was invited as a guest speaker to give a lecture about her successful Master research to Master students of the Maastricht Conservatory.

After her graduation, Jabiz established her own business as a piano teacher and a performer and she started a project called ‘Rumi Cycle’ which has been commissioned by Gaudeamus Music festival in Utrecht and has been premiered on 11 September 2020 at Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht.

Furthermore, another intercultural project of her was one of the winners of the ‘Online Cultural Challenge’ of the Netherlands embassy in Tehran and it won the prize.

In October 2020, Jabiz was contacted by TEDx-Tehran in order to perform for the TEDxTehran-Countdown2020 online event on 23rd October which concerns the ‘Climate Change’. In addition, to give a speech as a female entrepreneur for the TEDxTehran-Women on 27th November based on the theme ‘Fearless’.

For Jabiz music stimulates her both, intellectually and emotionally.

She is enthusiastic for working with people that share similar passion and interests.

As a piano teacher, she is passionate for empowering her students by giving them the tool and the confidence which encourages self-discovery and independent learning. Her teaching is instinctive and her classes are tailored to each student’s needs and musical wishes and adopted to the level and individual learning style of each student.
